Achieving sustainable development requires a coherent framework of global environmental and economic governance. Euratex, via its positions seeks to enhance the mutual supportiveness of trade and environment policies at both European and international levels.

CHEMICALS
For an important downstream user of chemicals (auxiliaries, dyestuffs and finishing agents) promotion of information exchange, transparency and continuous improvement of health and safety is of high concern.

IPP
IPP as a strategy that promotes environmentally friendly products and production methods using different instruments at the same time is part of our future.

IPPC
The purpose of IPPC is to achieve integrated prevention and control of pollution arising from industrial activities Europe wide. Mills producing over a threshold of 10/T a day will be subject to permitting. The textile BREF is a best reference document for industrial processes/activities, which will provide Member States with technical guidance on the granting of permits.

WASTE & RECYCLING
Waste and recycling policy is based on waste prevention, sustainable use of resources, greening of products, waste management and recycling.

ECO-LABEL
It is a market based voluntary instrument that has a twofold purpose:

    * To promote the design, production, marketing and use of consumer products and services that has reduced environmental impact during their entire life-cycle
    * To provide consumers with better information on the environmental quality of products and services.

Products, which comply with strict ecological and performance criteria, are awarded with an ecolabel logo. Continuous improvement and market related changes are essential.
