Trade - Growth in our sector is increasingly coming from exports and EURATEX’s mission is to ensure an improved access to world markets for Textile & Clothing companies. In order to achieve this goal, Euratex is active in the EU trade agreements negotiations as well as in the EU Commission’s Market Access Strategy. 

The role of Euratex:

  • Ensure the sector’s interests are fully taken into account during trade negotiations, expand knowledge dissemination of the EU trade policy and monitor implementation of the trade deals;
  • Report the barriers to trade faced by companies when exporting to third country’s markets and strive for their elimination;
  • Enhance business international cooperation through privileged relations with counterparts organizations in key strategic markets; 
  • Feed the regulatory dialogues with third countries with the aim to tackle the regulatory barriers and facilitate trade;
  • Inform members on worldwide trade and investment conditions. 

 

Industry - Improving the competitive environment for SMEs is of critical importance to ensure that a sound industrial basis is kept in the EU. 

The role of Euratex:

  • Promote an effective Industrial Policy in the EU;
  • Ensure the EU legal framework is cost effective and in line with market and business needs; 
  • Monitor proper enforcement of intellectual property rights and improve knowledge about IP law;
  • Participate in the standardization process in the field of textile and clothing in order to make sure standards meet the industry needs; provide information on labelling legislation in Europe and worldwide.
  • Strive for open access for SMEs to the Public Procurement markets and monitor the harmonized application of EU legislation.
